Femme

She moves through the party as shimmering ray of light. Her chandelier earrings toss glints as she laughs. Delicate gold heels on her feet. Champagne flute lifted to her lips, eyes flick down the smoky plum color surrounding her flashing eye. Entrancing him.

She is part of the night around her. Draped in midnight velvet that flashes with glittering stars. She arrives alone and is powerful enough to understand the strength in that. Her laughter is as smoky as the whiskey she drinks. Captivating a crowd is all is a nights work for her.

Sparkle

She is the popular girl. She knows everyone and everyone knows her. Her clothes are as sparkling as her wit and charm. On the dance floor all night she stands out from the crowd in her tee shirt and boots. At midnight her tee shirt is a cheeky reminder. Her skirt flares and glitters as she spins, the lights radiate from and around her.

December Favorites + What Happened in the Month

What happened.

My favorite look of this month was black moto-inspired boots, my black motorcycle jacket, red lips, a taupe eye with a cat flick and fluttery lashes, silver rings, and lots of curls.

I loved curling up in my room with all my lights aglow reading a book or watching a movie just sipping tea.

I practiced my knitting and did some more advanced yoga poses - hello Dolphin pose!

I traveled a lot, did my job and went to business meetings, hung out with friends and watched Sharknado :P

Discovered what coffees to avoid ordering. Tweeted and instagramed. #commonwhitegirl

Obsessively watched Nikki Phillippi's Vlogmas videos and Christine from Pinksofoxy.

I lit so many candles I increased the temperature of my room.

I did Christmas hard core - all the shopping, decorating, gift wrapping, baking, card writing, and song listening.

I lost a loved one and stood up for myself.

I made some first steps to actual adulthood.

I had a birthday.

I celebrated Christmas with my loved ones.

I bought my first MAC eyeshadow (s).

I didn't give up and I'm still pushing myself.

What happened in your month?

Christmas/Holiday DIY: Frosty Flowers Floral Arrangement

I was at Target recently and saw this floral arrangement :Smith & Hawken&#153 Curled Wood Floral Table Arrangement - White

Which I thought was quite lovely. At $20 though, I found myself hesitating over purchasing it. I then had a light bulb go off over head at the realization I already had all the supplies I needed to make this myself.

My creation:

This project is fast, simple and customizable to whatever color scheme you want! I decided on floral stems instead of wood curls and a blue/silver/white color scheme.

Skill Level: Beginner to Intermediate (DO NOT DO THIS WITHOUT ADULT SUPERVISION!!!)

Time: With dry time under three hours. For actual project time: under an hour.

What you'll need:

Wooden box or container to hold your arrangement

Floral foam (Oasis)

Floral stems

Wire cutters

Hot glue gun and glue sticks

Loose glitter

Wood stain (Optional)

Glitter spray

Spray snow

Cost: If you craft this is a super cheap project (I spent $0), if you craft somewhat it will probably be anywhere from $5-10 and if you don't craft at all it may be cheaper to buy the Target floral arrangement - limited color selection though.

Best wishes,

Elisabeth

Too Faced Joy to the Girls Eye Shadow Palette 2013 Holiday Collection Review and Swatches. HD Photos and Video!

***UPDATE***
After having the palette and using it daily for a week or so, so I could try out every single eye shadow, I ended up returning the palette. While I LOVED the colors (and packaging!) and some of the shades were amazing, several of the shades (such as Prancer, Sugar Plum and Yule Log) were completely unusable. They swatched beautifully, but did not wear well AT ALL. Even over primer they'd crease (horribly) and my biggest peeve - and what prompted me to return it- was if you tried to apply some of the shades, you first had to build up like crazy (hello fallout city!) and if you tried to build it DISAPPEARED. Completely. I was really sad to return this; it was an early birthday gift and I was super happy to get it. I posted an originally positive review due to the fact that some of the shades were excellent (snow angel, mulberry, cookie dough come to mind) and created beautiful looks. As a disclaimer I swatched all the shades and wore several before giving my review, and I stand by that portion. In the interest of the holiday season I wanted to post my review in a timely fashion, so I didn't wait to wear ALL the shades. I've learned my lesson and in the future I will wait to wear all shades first. I hope this helps! Honesty is my #1 goal, and trying to help people so I had to update my review.

Best wishes,

Elisabeth

Hey Everyone,

I know it's a bit early - but I'm already gearing up for Christmas and New Year's - I'm prepared to sacrifice Thanksgiving to get there.

In keeping with this mad dash towards the holidays, my wonderful family gave me an early birthday gift (December baby over here!) and it is the Too Faced Joy to the Girls Eye Shadow Palette from the 2013 Holiday Collection. I love it! Listed below is an in-depth review on each shade, the packaging, price, ideas for looks, and my general thoughts on the palette. I also filmed a review video with live and finished swatches, as well as a makeup tutorial using this palette! Please feel free to leave thoughts or questions below, I always answer back!

Best wishes

Elisabeth

Packaging:
Cardboard material. Thicker and taller than the average palette. Slightly bulky and impractical for travelling/storage. Magnetic closure. Gold polka dots on an aqua background. Pattern design by celeb. decorator Mary McDonald.

Price
$46 dollars. $275.00 value.

Available:
Wherever Too Faced is sold!

Shades:
Cookie Dough: Matte light brown with warm undertones. Opaque, blendable and the perfect transition color.
Cheers: Metallic Mauve with micro-shimmer. Opaque, blendable and a lovely lid color.
Prancer: Glittery bronze gold. Chunkier formula and harder to apply. Some fall out. Beautiful color though.
Sugar Plum: Plum with gray undertones and silver glitter. Opaque, beautiful color for the outer third of the eye. Glitter kind of disappears when applied though.
Mulberry: Darker matte brown with reddish-purple undertones. Pigmented, smooth and a wonderful crease color.
Snow Angel: Matte vanilla cream. Pigmented, smooth and creamy, perfect base and highlight color.
Powdered Sugar: Matte nude with pink undertones. Pigmented, blendable and a great base/highlight shade.
Too Too: Girly pink with iridescent shimmer glitter. Fairly opaque, but another one where the glitter seems to vanish when applied to the lid.
Yule Log: Rich chocolate brown with loads of bronze shimmer glitter. Opaque and easy to blend, but the glitter vanishes when applied. WTH??
Chestnut: Medium cocoa brown with micro-frost. Easy to blend and great for a lid color or as a transition color.
Twinkle: Metallic old gold. Fairly opaque and a beautiful lid color for an evening out or the holiday season.
Joy: Aqua pool blue with micro-pearl frost. Opaque and easy to blend. Great color for the lid or as an inner highlight.
Spike the Punch: Baby pink with golden micro-shimmer. Great as a highlight or for a subtle hint of shimmer on the lid.
Chimney: Slate color with a beautiful blue-grey sheen. Opaque and blendable. Very versatile color, can be used on the crease, lid, to deepen up a look or as a liner.
Coal: Matte black with grey-brown undertones. Fairly opaque and easy to blend.

The palette comes with:
Three look idea cards.
One full-sized LashGasm mascara.

Mascara:
Personally not my favorite. I found the formula to be a bit tacky and cause my lashes to stick together. It's an obvious looking mascara.

Overall thoughts:
On the whole, I'm very happy with the palette. Over primer the shadows last all day with no problems or creasing. Almost every shadow is a hit and it gives you a huge range of looks to create. A good blend of mattes, shimmers and glitters. Lots of neutrals and every day colors, as well as a couple of fun shades and party ready shades.

Don't Forget to Check Out my video review and Makeup Tutorial!!! Thanks! :)

Biker Babe/Rock Chick Halloween Costume Tutorial

BIKER BABE/ROCK CHICK
HALLOWEEN TUTORIAL - HAIR/MAKEUP/COSTUME

I was inspired by my love of Rock N' Roll, the style of Glam Rock, Hard Rock, Punk, Goth, Rock of Ages, and some of my idols like, Gene Simmons, Axl Rose, Ozzy Osbourne, and Alice Cooper. I had a ton of fun doing this look and I really hope you enjoy!!

Makeup:

Too Faced Shadow Insurance

Rimmel Match Perfection Concealer

Kat Von D Tattoo Concealer

Maybelline Gel Eye Liner in Expresso

Too Faced Galaxy Glam Eye Shadow in Deep Space

Too Faced Smoky Eye Palette (the original) -
Colors Used: Matte black, Silver and Nude

Rimmel Scandaleyes Eye Liner in Black

Rimmel Lash Accelerator Mascara

Duo Lash Lash Glue

Ardell Wispies Lashes

NYX Silver Glitter

Hair:

See Grav3yardgirl's tutorial HERE! There are a ton of tutorials on YouTube, but this is the one I worked off of :)

I used:

Bobby Pins

Clip in Hair Streaks (From Claire's)

COSTUME:

Motorcycle Jacket: Thrifted

Leather and Chains Vest: Thrifted

Leather Skort: Thrifted

Thigh High Stockings

BEBE Thigh High Boots: Thrifted

Bandanna

Vintage Coach Purse: Thrifted

Cross Earrings: Handmade by a family friend

"Nose Ring": Wire twisted around a makeup brush and slid on nose. Very advanced technical stuff here.

"Chin Piercings": Earring backs glued on with DUO lash glue. Worked surprisingly well!

"Marilyn Monroe Piercing": Rhinestone Crystal and DUO lash glue

"Cartilage Ear Piercings": Ear cuffs from Claire's
2nd Hole Ear "Piercings": Rhinestone crystal and earring backs. By earring backs I mean the kind of pointy silver ones. They look pretty authentic - at a distance anyway!

"Tattoos": Temporary tattoos (you can buy or make your own) and eyeliner. I sprayed my eye liner tattoos with setting spray and it really helped prevent it transferring/stay on. Word of warning though, be aware that the eye liner may rub off on what you're wearing/etc.
