Madcap Makeup Monday

Hey Everyone,

I hope your week is off to a great start so far! It's been pretty simple lately, but without further ado I'll share what I've been loving over the past week.

Best wishes,

Elisabeth

The products of the week:
Too Faced Glamour to Go II - Full review and swatches here
Anastasia Eye Shadow Duo in Power Lunch
Anastasia Eye Shadow Palette in Milky Way -  Full review and swatches here
Kat Von D Tattoo Concealer
Revlon Colorstay Mineral Lipglaze in Perennial Pink 538
Maybelline Baby Lips in Peach Kiss
Tarte Blush in Dollface
Too Faced Galaxy Glam Eye Shadow in Amber Asteroid -  Full review and swatches here
Rimmel Match Perfection Concealer and Rimmel Scandaleyes Kohl Kajal Eye Liner in Black -  Full review and swatches here
Maybelline the Falsies Flared Mascara
Elf Golden Bronzer

The perfect peach nude. Moisturizing and inexpensive, easy to wear, smells good and great for beginners!

I use this as a highlighter more than a bronzer. Allegedly this is a dupe for Dior's Amber Diamond. I wouldn't go that far, but for $3 it's a decent highlighter.

Eye Shadow: Too Faced Galaxy Glam Eye Shadow in Amber Asteroid -  Full review and swatches here
Eye Liner: Rimmel Scandaleyes Kohl Kajal Eye Liner in Black
Mascara: Maybelline the Falsies Flared Mascara

One Brand Review: Rimmel

Hey Everyone, today's 'One Brand Review' is on Rimmel London. I don't own a lot of their products and I just started buying from them this Spring. Even as a newbie to their company - I love every single product I have. I have not been disappointed yet. That is 100% my own opinion. Trust me, this blog doesn't get enough hits to interest any company enough to pay me! Which keeps me honest right? :)

The products:

In the interest of full disclosure: I don't wear foundation. I did embrace my photo editing touch up feature to cover up a couple of bumps. And I messed around with focal blur for fun. Now some of these pictures look like something out of a bad 80's magazine. *Sigh* Still learning.
Lasting Finish Matte by Kate Moss for Rimmel Lipsticks in 101 and 105. Price: Around $5.

101: Is a creamy matte, soft pink nude. While matte, it does not feel drying at all. If anything it almost feels a little greasy and gritty, but I can live with that. It doesn't dry my lips out, smells like candy, is a beautiful color and even the packaging is adorable. *FYI: This color has been lauded as a MAC dupe for several different MAC lipsticks.

105: Is a matte, rose brown. It is a gorgeous shade that I think is very sexy and works really well as a throwback shade. It reminds me of Bridgette Bardot circa 1970's. Very easy to wear and makes teeth look whiter. Also smells like candy!

Lasting Finish by Kate Moss for Rimmel Lipsticks

10: Is an intense cherry red. Very pin-up girl. I tend to pat it on to sheer it out and put a glossier red on top, but if you want vintage pin-up, this is it! Microscopic red glitter, but it does not show up on the lip. Again, makes your teeth whiter and smells like cherry candy. Yum!

17: Is a softer, 'my lips, but better' pink with a brown undertone. This shade has more glitter than the others, but still has that distinctive candy scent. Can you tell I like that feature?

Rimmel Stay Glossy Lipgloss

050 Unlimited Gold: This is a smooth, glossy golden beige color that you can sheer out as a topcoat to another lip color or build up for a golden gleam. I like it to create a glossy, shimmery beige nude lip or as a topcoat to make my lips look fuller. Smells like makeup.

Scandaleyes Waterproof Kohl Kajal

001 Black: The name has it all. Jet black, creamy and long-wearing. Oh and inexpensive. Put down the high-end pencils ladies and try this one out! I highly recommend it. And if you don't like, please don't hurt me! It didn't cost that much! :)

004 Taupe: How did I live without this? Overly dramatic question perhaps, but seriously! I use it all the time and for everything. It's creamy, glitter-free taupe that's perfect to use as a eyeliner (mostly along my lower lash line for subtle definition) as an eyebrow pencil and in a pinch, eye shadow.

007 Turquoise: A shimmering blue. Great for a pop of color. An inexpensive alternative to Urban Decay or MAC bright eye liners.

Rimmel Lash Accelerator Mascara: A great mascara for a flirty, doll-like effect with long, defined lashes. It won't build your lashes up into caterpillars, but it will give you prettier looking lashes.

I see you.

Rimmel Match Perfection Concealer: It's amazing. Full review here

Overall I think Rimmel does a great job of producing high quality products that perform very well, at really inexpensive prices! What do you think of the brand? Do you have a favorite product from them? Let me know in the comments! :) I'd love to try out some other things from them.

Best wishes,

Elisabeth

Review: Rimmel Match Perfection Concealer

Rimmel Match Perfection 2-in-1 Concealer

I love this concealer! I like it much better than my Kat Von D Tattoo Concealer or YSL Touche Eclat. I have deep, dark, creviced under-eyes (and I'm pretty young to already have them) and this covers with hardly any product needed. It is a dream to blend, I don't have to struggle or reapply to actually cover the damn things.
It works great as a illuminating highlighter -ala YSL Touche Eclat- around my eyes, cheekbones, cupids bow, etc. At the price I highly suggest you run out and try it!

The Claims: 2-in-1 Concealer and Highlighter. Skin tone adapting.
Yep. It works very well as both. It's not shimmery like a highlighter, but it's definitely brightens. And I don't notice it not matching my skin-tone. It also doesn't go that weird gray or orange tone I've had other skin-tone "matching" products turn into on my skin.

Coverage - Outstanding. Comparable to YSL.

Length of Wear - All day.

Creasing - I have't experienced any. I've been putting it to the test too - 80+ degree days with 90% humidity and not a crease to be seen. Which I typically have horrible creasing with my concealer so yay! *I don't use powder on top and most days I put it on after an eye cream.

Price - $4-5. Which since I consider it to work the same as the Touche Eclat I'm saving a ton.

Packaging - It comes in a squeeze tube with a brush. If you're careful you shouldn't have a problem. I actually prefer it to the click pens as I feel it gives you more control over how much product you want. The brush is super soft too. If you are worried about hygiene you can always squeeze out a dab onto a clean brush or finger and then apply to your face.
Shaken. AKA Swatched.

Stirred. AKA Blended.

Weekly Beauty Bests

Weekly Beauty Bests

Summer is here (finally) so I've been working on keeping my makeup routine simple. About every day of June has had me wearing a "blogger bun" -  a massive contraption of hair piled precariously atop my head and some version of light eye, flirty lashes, glowy skin and bright, juicy lips. Not exactly an original look but pretty.

I've been obsessed with the Stila 'The Natural  palette I got from Ulta recently and I've been using it daily for both day-time and evening looks. I will have a full review of it and the other products I mention up here soon. I'd love to do a quick tutorial on the look I've been wearing too - keep your eyes open! :)

What look/products have you been using and wearing??

The Shadows:
For the day, I've been taking Pure from the Stila Natural Palette and putting it all over my lid, Linen through the crease and Innocent in my outer third. I follow with my Pixi champagne shadow in my inner corner as a highlight.

Stila The Natural - Eye shadow palette. Exclusively at Ulta

Don't let the melding with my skin tone fool you - they are gorgeous on the eye and pigmented without being overwhelming.
Pixi Fairy Light Solo in No.2 Champagne Glow
The Face:
I don't wear foundation so after I moisturize I apply Kat Von D's Tattoo Concealer on my blemishes and take Rimmel's Perfect Match Concealer to the dark circles under my eyes and in any areas I wish to highlight. It's an inexpensive version of YSL Touche Eclat.

Rimmel Match Perfection Concealer and highlighter.  Kat Von D Tattoo Concealer in Light
The Coloring:
I'm pale. And it's not attractive on me. I have warm undertones and when I go pale I look like a Tim Burton movie extra (which I could totally live with honestly) but to keep from being confused with Beetlejuice I use Tarte Amazonian Clay Bronzer and Blush to prevent ghostly comparisons.

Tarte Amazonian Clay Bronzer in Park Ave Princess and Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Dollface.

 The Lashes:

My two favorite drugstore mascaras. For a more dramatic look I go with the Falsies, for a flirty day-time look Rimmel Lash Accelerator.

Maybelline the Flasies Flared and Rimmel Lash Accelerator
The Liners:
My new all-time favorite eye liners - high end or drugstore. I tightline my upper lash line with the black or smudge it into my lashes for soft all-day definition. I use the turquoise on my lower lash line for a fun pop of color.

Rimmel Scandaleyes Waterproof Kohl Kajal eyeliners in 001 Black and 007 Turquoise
The Lips:
I have a lot of bright lip products I rotate. This weeks crop: Glisten Up Pink is a beautiful berry-pink with silver shimmer and over a lip balm gives the softest, prettiest shiny look.
Coral Tattoo is a great long-lasting, bright and juicy lip color. Orange Attitude and Pink Possibilities are fantastic when you're running out the door and want some color without having to think about it. I layer them over lip balm and they're soft, shiny, water-color brights.

Left to right: Maybelline lipstick in Glisten Up Pink, L'Oreal Colour Riche Color Caresse Wet Shine Stain in Coral Tattoo and Maybelline Color Whisper in Orange Attitude and Pink Possibilities.

The Tools:
