Prairie Rose: Mid-West Inspired Fashion. Summer Concert & Music Festival Style Look Book.
Prairie Rose
The mid-west. The Dust Bowl. The Great Depression. 1800's prairie dresses. The worn faces of the 1930's. The cautious explorations of the 1970's fashion in the mid-west. I was inspired by these images for a spring/summer lookbook and I set about creating my own version.
Over the past few years several designers (Rodarte, Ralph Lauren & Anna Sui to name a few) have been inspired to create collections based on similar themes; Ralph Lauren in particular came out with some heartrendingly lovely calico dresses. A few of those dresses ended up on the inspiration board I created.
I was very happy to find some of my favorite retailers had a similar idea & are currently well stocked with items perfectly designed to create your own prairie rose look. 90's babydoll dresses in gingham was something I was really interested in finding, and lo and behold! The internet provided me with several sites selling just such items!
Listed below are photos of outfits I've styled, as well as photos and links to similar items you can purchase for yourself.
Cream Ruffled Tank Top // J. Crew // Thrifted
Cream Broom Stick Skirt // Abercrombie & Fitch //
